Union County Convention & Visitors Bureau Cancels 2021 Dine on a Covered Bridges Events; Announces New Bridge Celebration Opportunities for 2022
MARYSVILLE – May 7, 2021 – The Union County Convention & Visitors Bureau has canceled the 2021 Dine on a Covered Bridge events. (The cancellation of this event will not affect separately scheduled group tours)
After much deliberation, the Union County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) Board of Trustees voted to cancel the 2021 Dine on a Covered Bridge event due to concerns regarding the inability to provide opportunities for social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID numbers that, while decreasing, still mandate safety protocol that the event organizers are unable to ensure.
“It was a challenging decision to make; however, our greatest concern is the health and safety of our patrons, volunteers, artists, vendors, and staff” said Kim Heminger, president of the CVB. “We explored options and with the seating capacity of the bridge, had to accept that there was no feasible way to make the dining and celebratory events happen this year.”
The Union County CVB Board of Trustees and staff are excited to look to 2022 and share that plans are already in motion, not only for the Dine on Covered Bridge events but also new group and individual bridge-related celebrations and discovery opportunities.”
“As our residents and visitors continue to share their love for and interest in our beautiful, covered bridges, the Union County Convention & Visitors Bureau board, and staff are responsive,” said Heminger. “We have several exciting developments, including a covered bridge trail experience, that we look forward to launching in the new year.”
